Initially, the foundation was set up as a community charitable group by the family. It went on to become a support for the Patel community when they were settling in the UK post-independence. The foundation initially focused on the settlement of diaspora in the UK and in Africa, which got relocated due to the Indian independence and the separation of Pakistan from the Indian Sub-continent.

The community charity work through the organization in the UK was later transferred under the leadership of his son Mash Patel (Mahendra Kumar Patel) in the early 80s. Mash moved to the UK at the age of 7 with his grandparents, saw the sufferings of the community, and the inequality. It was then that he decided to spread the wings of the work beyond the community for all those in need.
